Turin gets smarter and smarter with IGPDecaux and TIM
The city of Turin is the protagonist of an innovative intervention in terms of digital services thanks to the collaboration between IGPDecaux and TIM.
For the first time in Italy, in the IGPDecaux urban structures located in the Turinese via Garibaldi, have been installed seven TIM small cells, mobile radio antennas that allow the development of the 5G network and mobile application testing. The citizens could also use for free the wi-fi connection thanks to the addition of hot-spots installed in the same urban structures’ systems.
The initiative is part of the "Torino 5G" project and offers to the 8 million people who attend the urban center to experience new forms of communication, very close to the concept of the Smart City.
The city becomes a more usable and attractive place for citizens, who experience firsthand the value of the digital services.
"The IGPDecaux business model - as remarked by the CEO Fabrizio du Chène de Vère- based the concept of urban structures on the principles of functional economy and eco-design, to provide citizens and transport companies with useful and sustainable services. IGPDecaux Out of Home solutions always take care of the urban context through the harmoniuos integration of urban structures in the city, with the aim of making the city itself welcoming, pleasant and comfortable. The project carried out in Via Garibaldi responds to this mission."
At the presentation of the project, the city Councillor responsible for Innovation and Smart City Paola Pisano, and the Mayor of the city Chiara Appendino were present. Both have emphasized the relevance of the project and the value brought by innovative solutions.
